Below are 4 common techniques and styles of Massage and their corresponding benefits:

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is a technique which generally promotes relaxation. It includes long gliding circular strokes using hands and palms. It highly increases blood oxygenation by improving the body’s blood circulation. It also eases tension and beneficial to the muscles by decreasing its toxins.

Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu means “finger pressure” and it involves in putting pressure on the body using thumbs, hand, elbows, knees and feet to ease pain. This massage technique emphasizes limbs and joint rotation and stretching which relieves body malaise and weakness due to fatigue.

Thai Massage

This is a traditional massage from Thailand that is usually practiced by monks. This massage technique involves pressure and stretching which relieves pain, stiffness and tension. It enhances ones flexibility and blood circulation. This is contraindicated to people who have disk herniation, osteoporosis, recent surgery, or cardiovascular disease. Caution is also needed to pregnant women.


Reflexology technique believes that there are specific points in the hands, feet and ears that corresponds each organs in the body. It involves putting pressure on a specific point using fingers or thumb. It is beneficial in eliminating toxins, relieves pain, boost energy, improves blood circulation and promote relaxation.
